EndNote is a tool that allows you to collect bibliographic references and put them in the body of a paper and in a reference list in a desired citation format. In this guide, you'll learn how to use EndNote Desktop’s general functions.

Tips of Exporting References to EndNote Library

Step 1: Open an EndNote library

Step 2: Conduct a search in a database and select records from the result list.

Step 3: Export records by finding the "Export / Save / Download" button.

Step 4: Choose the relevant bibliography management tool or format ( *.RIS is the common format for citation tool )

Step 5: Double click the file ( *.RIS / *.ENW / *.NBIB / *.CIW ) (Alternatively, import the file from [EndNote > File > Import > File])

Export References from Content Providers

  1. Conduct a search in EBSCOhost platform. E.g. PsycArticles.
  2. Show more records if results more that 10 records.
  3. Select records and click the "Cite" icon.
  4. Choose "Export Citation" and "Export in RIS format". 
  5. Save the .RIS file.
  6. When EndNote library is opening, you may directly import the .RIS file to your EndNote Library in a second.
