In his wonderfully clear and cogent essay On Liberty, Mill contends that individuals should be as free as possible from interference by government. Proposing that individual fulfilment is the surest route to collective happiness, he argues passionately against the "tyranny of the majority," and sets out to create an alternative view of a practical politics that sets proper limits on the powers of government and society.

First published in 1896, Dicey, Morris & Collins on the Conflict of Laws is renowned worldwide as the foremost authority on private international law. It explains the rules, principles and practice which determine how the law of England and Wales relates to other legal systems.

Law's Empire is a 1986 text in legal philosophy by Ronald Dworkin, in which the author continues his criticism of the philosophy of legal positivism as promoted by H.L.A. Hart during the middle to late 20th century. The book notably introduces Dworkin's Judge Hercules as an idealized version of a jurist with extraordinary legal skills who is able to challenge various predominating schools of legal interpretation and legal hermeneutics prominent throughout the 20th century. Judge Hercules is eventually challenged by Judge Hermes, another idealized version of a jurist who is affected by an affinity to respecting historical legal meaning arguments which do not affect Judge Hercules in the same manner. Judge Hermes' theory of legal interpretation is found by Dworkin in the end to be inferior to the approach of Judge Hercules.

Esta edição contém alterações significativas do texto, consubstanciando uma revisão geral da edição anterior, apesar de essa já contemplar a reforma legislativa de 2015. Além da rectificação de bastantes "gralhas" que começavam na da própria data do diploma que aprovou a reforma - e de algumas desatenções, procedeu-se a alterações consideráveis ao longo de boa parte do texto da obra, designadamente nos capítulos V, VII, VIII, IX, XI, XII e XV, nas matérias que foram objecto de modificação pelo Decreto-Lei nº 214-G/2015, a fim de versar ou aprofundar o tratamento de alguns problemas entretanto suscitados (por exemplo, quanto ao âmbito da jurisdição, à condenação à prática do acto devido, às acções relativas a normas, ao contencioso pré-contratual, ao alcance da modificação objectiva da instância, aos poderes condenatórios do juiz e aos poderes do MP, ao decretamento provisório das providências cautelares), aproveitando para actualizar alguma bibliografia e acrescentar referências jurisprudenciais pertinentes.

As anotações ao Código Civil de 1966, que constam do presente trabalho, foram em grande parte escritas durante os últimos quatro ou cinco anos, enquanto se procedia à revisão dos anteprojectos e à elaboração do Projecto do Código. Verificou-se agora que, dado tão longo período, não foi possível manter um critério uniforme na extensão das notas e apontamentos que dia a dia se iam lançando no papel para serem aproveitados no futuro. Talvez, em relação a alguns artigos, se devesse dizer mais alguma coisa; talvez, em relação a outros, não houvesse interesse em ir tão longe. Pretende-se que os estudantes tenham um conhecimento profundo das regras jurídicas aplicáveis às relações familiares e para familiares, em especial ao casamento (capacidade, formalidades, efeitos patrimoniais, divorcio), à união de facto, à adopção e à filiação.
No direito sucessório dar-se-á uma visão aprofundada das regras de direito civil que resolvem o problema do destino post-mortem das relações jurídicas do falecido. 《合同法總論(第3版)》修訂的動因是：其一，出臺了新的法律、法規和司法解釋；其二，裁判實務産生了新案型、新問題；其三，學術研究在主客觀方面均有新進展；其四，獲得了一些新資料。本次修訂是全面的，無論是內容還是形式，均較前版有明顯的進步。在內容方面，結合新的法律、法規和司法解釋，特別是結合最高人民法院關于適用《中華人民共和國合同法》若干問題的解釋（二），逐處修訂《合同法總論(第3版)》內容。另外，刊登在《中華人民共和國最高人民法院公報》上面的案例，也是本次修訂關注的重點之一。

該書主要收集了作者近年在民法基礎理論與澳門民法研究方面所發表的論文，譯文及著述。

《民法學說與判例研究》叢書共計八册，收錄140餘篇論文，主題內容涉及廣泛。作者應用法學方法，針對重要的裁判，分析檢討其理由構成，幷就個別具體案件發掘闡釋其所蘊含的法律原則，建構其理論體系。該八册著作在某種程度反映了民法爲因應社會經濟變遷所面臨的問題，如何解釋適用法律，填補漏洞，創設新制度而成長的過程，記錄著民法的理論發展史。

《民法總論》的內容是關於民法總則部份，出版理由是有需要配合一九六六年的《葡萄牙民法典》的頒佈，而向作者當時任教之科英布拉大學法律課程的學生提供相應之教材。是次出版的中譯本為該書一九八五年第三版的譯本。基於法律的修改，尤其是一九七七年對《民法典》的修改，該書在內容方面作出了一些更新及改動，並加入了新的內容及對一些問題作更深入的探討，故第三版跟一九七五年的初版在內容上已有顯著的差別。

本書最大的特點是疏理了葡萄牙法學界長期以來累積的相關研究成果，幷結合澳門的實證法修改和法院判决進行論述。

Mantém-se, no entanto, a perspectiva minimalista das últimas actualizações — pois foi apenas disso que, essencialmente, se tratou. A urgência das solicitações didácticas não permite ainda que se proceda à reescrita global que, provavelmente, os abundantes desenvolvimentos doutrinais e jurisprudenciais dos últimos anos aconselhariam. E a verdade é que estamos a operar com um Código que tem um curtíssimo período de vigência e ainda mais estreito tempo de aplicação efectiva. A cultura juslaboral predominante não sofreu nenhuma evolução que mereça relevo e a manualística nacional manteve-se, após a revisão de 2009, numa postura de reserva prudente. A Lei de Arbitragem Voluntária Anotada transformou-se numa obra de referência e de uso generalizado, quer pelos tribunais do Estado, quer pelas empresas usuárias da arbitragem, quer por árbitros e advogados portugueses, quer, ainda, pela comunidade arbitral estrangeira, sempre que a jurisdição portuguesa é chamada a intervir, seja por via da escolha de Portugal como sede da arbitragem, seja por via do processo de reconhecimento de sentença arbitral estrangeira e respetiva execução. Trata-se de um instrumento de significativo uso e relevância, o que levou a Associação Portuguesa de Arbitragem a um permanente cuidado de atualização. Depois da 3ª edição, em 2017, é agora publicada a 4ª edição, com toda a jurisprudência relevante até 31 janeiro de 2019.

Meio por excelência de resolução alternativa de litígios, a arbitragem tem vindo a ganhar cada vez maior protagonismo e notoriedade, assumindo hoje um papel de destaque na resolução de conflitos. Em todo o caso, não obstante o sucesso, ela encerra em si importantes especificidades (e dificuldades) que importa conhecer na teoria e na prática. A justiça arbitral não é igual à justiça estadual e embora os tribunais arbitrais sejam verdadeiros tribunais não são tribunais como os outros. Neste sentido, o Manual de Arbitragem pretende contribuir para o estudo da arbitragem, apresentando uma componente académica (onde os grandes problemas dogmáticos da arbitragem são tratados) e uma componente prática (onde se analisa o modo como o processo arbitral nasce, se desenvolve e termina).
