UM IP Policies

According to the announcement published in the Official Gazette of the Macao SAR on 11 July 2018, the "Regulation of Management of Intellectual Property for University of Macau" was approved by the University Council and became effective from 12 July 2018. This Regulation aims to set out the rules in relation to the Intellectual Property created by the UM personnel, or other matters related thereto, which include, the creation, invention, ownership, utilization, publication, protection, commercialization, distribution of commercialization remuneration of the Intellectual Property.

The "Rules of Management of Intellectual Property for University of Macau" (IP Rules) was established and became effective from 26 October 2018. The IP Rules are based on the established "Regulation of Management of Intellectual Property for University of Macau" (IP Regulation) with detailed principles that govern the intellectual property and technology/knowledge transfer affairs of UM.

The basis of this document is the Regulation of Management of Intellectual Property for University of Macau (hereinafter referred to as “IP Regulation”), and the Rules of the Management of the Intellectual Property for University of Macau (hereinafter referred to as “IP Rules”). These guidelines set out the details of administrative procedures and evaluation of patent applications of University of Macau.
